Fiestas in Spain - Party holidays in Spain

Mijas Fiestas...

The Spanish love to party......

Spain is renowned for the traditional fiestas. Usually all entertainment is free. Events not to be missed in the main square of Mijas Pueblo are:

EVERY WEDNESDAY AT NOON - Free flamenco show with a free taste of Malaga sweet wine.

CARNIVAL TIME IN FEBRUARY - Famous for it’s elaborate costumes and excitement with masks & fancy dress drawing visitors throughout the region.

SPECTACULAR RELIGIOUS EASTER PROCESSIONS (The processions take place during the week leading up to Easter Sunday. The parades start at the local church and slowly go pass through the streets of the village, an amazing and moving sight with their lifelike statues of Christ on the Cross and his mother, the Virgin Mary mourning.

INTERNATIONAL DAY – (SPRING) Where all different nationalities come together to celebrate the typical recipes, arts and crafts & performances of their country of origin for all to taste and experience all day - to the early hours – Phew!

CELTIC NIGHT ( JULY or AUGUST) - This event started last year and was such a success that the Town Hall has decided to make it an annual event. A truly Celtic environment with international bands and fare.

LATIN EVENING (JULY or AUGUST)- Experience the exciting Latin rhythms with food, music and dancing from South America!

FERIA DE MIJAS (6-12 SEPTEMBER)- This is the annual party. Fairground rides and lots of entertainment all night long. Don’t book in the centre of the Village if you don’t want to party!

THREE KINGS – (EVENING OF THE 5 JANUARY). The story is told that the three kings of Orient bring their presents to the children on the eve of the 5th January. There is also a procession through the village with the `Three kings of the Orient´ scattering sweeties to the children. Lovely sight.
